2017 at Caruna

Reliable electricity distribution is one of the cornerstones of our society. Caruna’s mission is to guarantee electricity distribution that is reliable and easy to manage. We strive to accomplish this while taking into account the financial, social and environmental factors associated with our operations, as well listening to our stakeholders. In this report, we will provide Caruna’s financial information for 2017 and describe our operations in line with GRI’s G4 reporting guidelines.

We are building a weatherproof electricity network

2017 at Caruna, we continued to carry out more and more underground cabling work. Caruna’s total investments amounted to EUR 291 million, of which EUR 276.5 million was allocated largely to the reliability of network operations. By the end of 2017, the weatherproof network extended to 71 per cent of Caruna’s customers. The total length of our electricity network is now roughly 85,000 kilometres.

We help mitigate climate change

In our operations, we seek to meet the expectations of our customers and society as a whole. Consequently, we plan and build our electricity network in such a way that it will be compatible with the decentralised production of renewable energy. By doing so, we will also enable individuals to contribute to climate change mitigation by producing energy by environmentally-friendly means. At the end of 2017, our network area had 2,340 producers of solar energy.
